Simonstown Gaels are the U15 Group A Cup champions after an outstanding all-round performance against St. Colmcilles in Ashbourne.
Led onto the pitch by inspirational captain Ben , Simonstown got off to a flying start, securing the opening score and dominating possession early on. Although they missed some early chances, their relentless pressure and teamwork ensured they went into the break with a deserved lead.
First Half
The half-time score read Simonstown 2-06 to Cilles 2-02, with Éanna leading the way in attack with 2-02. Joe chipped in with two points from frees, while Thomas and Sam added a point each.
Second Half
The second half saw Simonstown truly take control. Their movement, passing, and decision-making were top class as they outscored Cilles 3-07 to 0-07. Éanna added another 1-01, Daniel found the net and added a point, and Sam fired in another goal. Joe added four more points, including one from a free, and David rounded off the scoring with a point.
A Team Victory
This was a full team effort from back to front – from Daniel in goals, through a rock-solid defence, slick and skillful midfield play, right up to a clinical and dynamic forward line. Every single player played their part, and the boys won as a team. The quality of passing and skill on display throughout the match was exceptional.
Captain Ben delivered a fantastic speech at the presentation, capping off a memorable evening for the players, coaches, and supporters.
