We are incredibly proud to share that Simonstown Gaels Blue Cubs have been named the May recipients of the “Gradam Ceannródaithe Cumarsáide” by the Meath HSE Speech and Language Therapy Department!
This prestigious award recognises individuals or groups who champion communication and inclusion in their communities — and the Blue Cubs are doing just that, in the most inspiring way.
The idea for the Blue Cubs was born at a Simonstown Gaels family fun day, where a group of observant and compassionate volunteers noticed that not every child was able to participate in the activities. Instead of accepting that as the norm, they took action — and from that spark of empathy and innovation, the Blue Cubs were formed.
The Blue Cubs is now a thriving and welcoming group for children aged 6 to 13 with additional support needs and their siblings. It’s a space where every child is encouraged to join in, feel included, and just enjoy the fun of being active — through games, drills, and team-building activities.
At its heart, this initiative embodies what GAA is truly about: community, inclusiveness, and opportunity for all.
👏 Congratulations to all involved with Simonstown Gaels Blue Cubs – your commitment to creating a space where every child can belong and thrive is something to be truly proud of. You are leading by example, and this award is so well deserved.
