Founded in 1965, Simonstown Gaels G.F.C. began as a grassroots initiative by a small group of football enthusiasts determined to establish a club for their growing community on the northern side of Navan. From those early days of informal games played in local fields, the club has grown into one of the most respected and successful Gaelic football clubs in County Meath.

At the time of its formation, Simonstown was a little-known name within Meath GAA circles, and the idea of a club based in the area raised a few eyebrows. But it quickly became clear that this was a club with ambition, strong values, and deep community roots. Over time, it began drawing players from neighbouring areas and built a reputation for hard work, inclusiveness, and competitive spirit.

Simonstown Gaels now fields teams from nursery to senior level in both men’s and ladies’ football. The club has a proud tradition of underage development and continues to provide pathways for players to reach the highest levels, including county representation.

The ladies’ section has grown from strength to strength, with increasing participation, coaching investment, and championship success that reflects the club’s inclusive ethos and commitment to promoting Gaelic games for all.

From modest beginnings, Simonstown’s facilities have developed into some of the best in the county, including multiple floodlit pitches, a modern clubhouse, gym, and high-quality training infrastructure. The club remains a vital part of the local community, driven by volunteers, supported by local families, and united by a shared pride in the sky blue and navy jersey.
